About

Last June we asked our community to create and submit an original works of art based on the theme Colorful Englewood, Colorado.

First, second and third-place designs were selected in each of the following age groups:

  • Ages 5-12
  • Ages 13-17
  • Ages 18+

Semifinalist designs were selected by library staff and winners will be chosen by public vote.

Theme

Colorful Englewood, Colorado  

Celebrate Englewood and Summer Reading with a library card that shows off what you love about living, working and playing in Englewood. 

Rules & Guidelines

  1. Participants must be residents of Englewood or go to school in Englewood and have an active EPL library card
  2. Participants must submit original art – no copy written material or AI generated artwork can be used
  3. Any media type (mixed, painting, digital, collage, pastels, crayon, pencil, pen, etc.) is fine as long as the design fits within the size requirements and is two-dimensional (no dioramas, fiber crafts, or other three-dimensional art styles)
  4. Artwork will be judged based on creativity, design, and application of the theme
  5. One entry per person
  6. Design content must be appropriate for all ages
  7. Submit your design in person starting June 1
  8. EPL staff and immediate family members are not eligible for entry

Entry Instructions

  1. Download the Contest Design Template here or pick up a print copy at the Englewood Public Library starting June 1. Accepted file types are: .jpg, .jpeg, .png and .pdf.
  2. Submit your design here. All submissions are due by June 30, 2025.

Selection Process

The semifinalists were selected by EPL staff, the winners were chosen by public vote. Winners were notified by phone and then were publicly announced at the August 23 Englewood Block Party.

First-place designs are placed on limited-run library cards, posted on social media and displayed in the library. Second and third-place designs are posted on social media and displayed in the library. 

Timeline

  1. June 1 – June 30 - Submissions will be accepted
  2. July 1 – July 6 - Internal Judging will take place
  3. July 7 – July 31 - Public Judging will take place
  4. August - Winners notified in August and publicly announced August 23 at Englewood Block Party
  5. September 1 – December 1 - In-library art displays will be up and winners recognized at Council
  6. October 1 - New cards will be available while supplies last
