2024 Action Plan 

Adult Services

  • Establish partnerships with Malley Senior Center.
    •  Collaborate with Malley Senior Center on programs aimed at senior populations.
    • Reestablish the Malley Senior Center Book Club.
    • Coordinate with Malley Senior Center staff and IT to create a pickup point for library holds requests.
  • Expand Homebound Delivery Program.
    • Increase enrolled patrons by 25%.
    • Schedule Tech Assist programs at senior living facilities and Malley Senior Center on a regular basis.
  • Increase offsite program offerings.
    • Collaborate with local businesses/restaurants to host specialized events.
    • Present programs at Englewood Recreation Center.
  • Establish new partnerships with community agencies.
    • Maintain and strengthen partnerships with Change the Trend, Arapahoe County Housing Navigators, and HAAT Force.
    • Develop new partnerships with Café 180, Movement 5280, and Bridge House.

Children and Teen Services

  • Provide services and support to the Homeschool community.
    • Provide information sessions for Homeschool families outlining resources available and gain insight to homeschooler needs.
    • On a quarterly basis, host a Homeschool meet up to showcase library space and services.
  • Increase outreach to local schools and other youth serving organizations.
    • Achieve a 10% increase in outreach programs to Englewood Public Schools and local preschools.
    • Establish connection with two (2) new schools and/or youth serving organizations.
  • Establish partnerships with early childhood agencies.
    • Establish connection with two (2) organizations that provide early childhood education support.
    • Utilize new partnerships to provide quarterly seminars for families with young children.
  • Plan and present programs to older teens and new adults.
    • Collaborate with Adult Services team to present life skills programs, including job readiness, post high school readiness, financial literacy, cooking, etc.
    • Expand non-traditional collection options for youth.
    • Refresh story time bins for “Library of Things.”
    • Create additional resources to add to the “Library of Things.”

Circulation and Patron Experience

  • Complete a comprehensive Circulation Training and Operations Manual.
    • Create an updated training checklist for new staff regarding circulation procedures.
    • Create a manual of tasks and responsibilities for circulation/patron experience staff members.
  • Grow the non-traditional collection by adding new concepts to the “Library of Things.”
    • Research other useful items to include such as tools or cookware.
    • Expand the selection of book club kits and board games.
    • Create a plan and budget for the 2025 “Library of Things.”
  • Plan and coordinate campaign to increase library cardholders and library usage.
    • Collaborate with other City Departments for promotions.
    • Attend 4 new events where library card registration can be offered.
    • Increase all library cardholders by 25%.
    • Increase Resident library cardholders by 15%.
    • Create new approaches for promoting library card registration.

Library Operations

  • Create a 3-5 year Library Strategic Plan.
    • Enlist a professional consultant to facilitate strategic planning process.
    • Include a comprehensive community assessment.
  • Create a comprehensive Library Employee Manual.
    • Formally record processes and procedures specific to library operations.
    • Formally record training checklists for all library teams, supervisory roles, and library manager.
    • Formally record job performance expectations in addition to those outlined in the City’s Administrative Policy Manual.
  • Create a knowledge base of library operations and City procedures.
    • Compile an overview of each library team’s purpose, responsibilities, and tasks.
    • Create an outline of City procedures regarding budget, finance, personnel, facilities and IT maintenance, vendor contracts, etc.
  • Establish partnership with local agency for social work services.
    • Collaborate with All Health Network to provide social work services in the library.
  • Secure alternate funding through grants, book sales, and donations.
    • Hold two (2) large book sale events during 2024, spring and fall.
    • Coordinate one (1) donation drive or event.
    • Research grant opportunities to fund special events and programs.
    • Collaborate with community members to create a Friends of the Library group.
