What does the Sustainability Division do?
- Helps accomplishes the goals and projects founds within the city’s sustainability plan.
- Removes barriers and obstacles for residents, visitors, businesses, and non-profits that want to participate in and/or advance sustainability initiatives.
- Implements practices, programs, and/or policies that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and/or increase the community’s resilience to climate change.
- Implements and/or advances internal operational sustainability practices and projects.
- Increases internal and external education around sustainability-related topics.
- Serves as the city’s primary liaison to the Sustainability Commission – an Englewood resident advisory body on sustainability in Englewood – presenting project, program, and policies to gather valuable community feedback.
- Seeks out and secures funding for sustainability and/or climate change resiliency.
- Oversees and assists in the development of plans, ensuring alignment with city and departmental goals and objectives.
- Evaluates and studies current and upcoming sustainability developments to decipher compatibility and/or feasibility of implementation within the Englewood community.
- Ensures that sustainability initiatives are equitable and address the needs of all community members, with especially for underserved and vulnerable Englewood community members.
- Supports local green businesses and innovations, fostering job creation and economic growth through sustainable practices and technologies.
- Collaborates with regional, state, and national sustainability networks, non-profits, and private sector partners to amplify impact and share resources.
