A History of Success

Home to a first-generation transit-oriented development, national retailers, a diverse mix of small locally-owned businesses and two nationally-recognized and growing hospitals, Englewood is an economic powerhouse in its own right. Excellent light rail access to Downtown Denver and the Denver Tech Center, plus relatively affordable housing, makes Englewood especially attractive to new residents and businesses.

EDDA is capitalizing on these benefits to strengthen our local economy, employment opportunities and housing options. The authority also helps attract new investment and business development to Downtown and works with its partners to support local businesses.

The EDDA works to:

  • Strategically attract and leverage reinvestment in Downtown to increase sales tax and property tax revenues
  • Retain, recruit and support successful community-serving businesses in Downtown Englewood
  • Increase and diversify the Downtown employment base to provide more jobs near services, retail stores and cultural amenities
  • Encourage the development of a variety of home types at a range of price points to attract those who seek an accessible downtown lifestyle and to build a larger customer base for local businesses
