Get to Know Your Neighbor Grant Policy

Purpose

The Get to Know Your Neighbor Grant gives neighbors of the City of Englewood the opportunity to come together for a neighborhood event. The grant can be used for food, supplies or activities for a neighborhood get-together or event that builds community with your neighbors.

Past grant activities include block parties, ice cream socials, sponsoring a food truck at a neighborhood social, getting a face painter or clown for neighborhood event and more.

Grant Details 

• Grant amounts are $100, $300 and $500
• Grants are approved on a first come first serve basis
• Applicants should apply for the grant at least 3 weeks prior to their neighborhood event 

Requirements and Restrictions 

• Applicant must be a resident of Englewood
• Blocks are eligible to receive the grant twice annually at the discretion of the City
• Only one grant shall be awarded per neighborhood event
• Eligible expenses for this grant may include food and supplies needed for a neighborhood gathering. Alcohol, marijuana, tobacco products, and any illegal substances are not qualified expenses
• Grant money can be used to support local retailers, restaurants, food trucks, etc. that will be supplying food, prizes, or other activities at the neighborhood event
• Grant money cannot be used at City sponsored events
• Food trucks attending neighborhood events must be licensed through the City of Englewood
• If resident plans to close their street they must apply for the Block Party Permit
• If activity involves using a City park, resident must obtain a park permit
• Grant funds cannot be used to fund any personal/private events or events organized by a business, educational organization, religious organization, special interest groups, political organizations, or used for any campaigns of individuals running for public office
• Grant recipients are not permitted to organize raffles during an event. Additionally, the sale or purchase of raffle tickets at the event is prohibited
• Grant funds cannot be used for the purchase, acquisition, or improvement of personal property or durable goods, or any item that can reasonably be converted into personal property
• Upon completion of event, resident must submit itemized receipts, a reimbursement request form (provided to approved applicants), and four photos of the Neighborhood Resources Coordinator
• The City reserves the right to stop, deny, or cancel any award if the activity is deemed not to be in the best interest of the City.
• Resident agrees to comply with all City Ordinances and Regulations
