Block parties are a fun way to connect residents and neighbors together. For block parties that wish to occupy part of the city street, a Block Party Street Occupancy permit is required from the Public Works Department for a $25 fee. The permit application is available below. Permits are available between May 1 and October 31. In order to help ensure the safety of guests and minimize potential pedestrian-automobile conflicts, barricades are required to be placed at each end of the street during block party events that occupy part of a city street.
Ready to Host a Block Party? Follow These Steps:
- Submit a Street Occupancy Permit Application
- Complete the Block Party Permit application, upload your documents and submit your permit request. The permit fee is $25.
- Prepare a Traffic Control Plan
- As part of your permit application, you’ll need to upload a simple map or plan showing where barricades will be placed at each end of the street.
- Arrange for Barricades
- The City of Englewood does not provide barricades required for block party events. “Englewood Block Party” barricade rental packages are available. Learn more about barricades here.
- Wait for Approval
- After your application is reviewed, Public Works will contact you. Once approved, you’ll receive an email with a link to pay your permit fee online.
- Host Your Event!
- Be sure to place barricades at each end of the street before your party begins to keep your guests safe and your event in compliance with city requirements.
Block Party Street Occupancy Permit Instructions
To submit the Block Party Application go to ims.englewoodco.gov
The City of Englewood is now utilizing a new software system that allows for electronic submittal of your Block Party application. The System provides for online payments, thus eliminating the need for phone payments or office visits.
Create your secure account at: ims.englewoodco.gov, to submit required documents, receive notifications throughout the review process, make online payments, and communicate with staff. After the review of the application is complete, Public Works IMS will contact you to let you know that your application has been approved. Once approved, you will receive an email containing a link to pay for your permit and get your permit issued.

Follow the steps below to submit your Block Party Permit:
- Click ims.englewoodco.gov
- Create new account
- Confirm email
- Sign in
- Under the Permit category click ‘Apply for Permit’
- Click ‘Public Works’
- Click ‘Special Event’
- Click 'Block Party'
- Select your address
- Accept and acknowledge the required documents
- Fill out contact info
- Download and fill out PDF application and save it to your computer
- Upload PDF application
- Upload traffic control plan
- Submit application
- After the review of the application is complete, Public Works will contact you to let you know that your application has been approved. Once approved, you will receive an email containing a link to pay for your permit and get your permit issued.
- Click the link
- Click 'Check Out' in the 'Charges' box
- Click Pay
Barricade Instructions
The City of Englewood does not provide barricades required for block party events. “Englewood Block Party” barricade rental packages are available from the following barricade rental companies. Delivery and set up/take down of the necessary barricades typically costs an average of $150. The cost of the barricade rental is the responsibility of the party hosts. Rental fees can vary and party hosts are encouraged to contact several barricade rental companies to obtain the best price for their particular event.

*National Night Out – for block parties held on National Night Out (the first Tuesday of October), the City will deliver the necessary barricades free of charge.
