Teen Summer Reading Program

See below for special Summer Reading Teen programming and events.

  • Ages 12-18
  • 4 orbits - 6 hours of reading each round
  • After completing each round, come into the library to grab a prize. The final prize is a free book!
  • Read books, magazines, graphic novels or listen to audio books--the sky is the limit!

Adult Summer Reading Program

  • For adults ages 18 and over
  • Complete three missions, with prizes at the end of each one
  • Grand prize drawing at the end!

  • June 18 - Earth Day/Recycle Party:  Celebrating Earth.
  • June 25 – Aliens Party:  Celebrating Mars.
  • July 2 – Rome Party: Celebrating Jupiter.
  • July 9 – Rings Party:  Celebrating Saturn.
  • July 16 - 50's/60's Party:  Celebrating The Moon.
  • July 23 - Ice Party:  Celebrating Uranus.

Wednesday Performers

Join us for fun performers: puppets, jugglers, magicians, storytelling, live animals and more. Every week will bring something new!

  • May 29 - Canyon Critters: Come see a reptile show meant to educate as well as amaze all that attend! 
  • June 5 - Puppets & Things on Strings: Join us for a comedy show featuring ventriloquism, puppets, and marionettes.   
  • June 12 - Polynesian Dancers: Discover the Polynesian culture through this entertaining program full of music and dance. 
  • June 19 - Gray Matters Science: "DNA Models of Life on Earth." Learn about the building blocks of life and make your own alien double helix.
  • June 26 - Wick School of Irish Dancing: Experience Irish culture through this fun, lively and energetic program full of music and dance.
  • July 3 – Miss Mad About Hoops: Join us for a fun multi-hoop LED show followed by hoop lessons and a hula hoop contest! (hoops provided).
  • July 10 - Bubble Party: If you love bubbles, join us for a soapy, bubbly good time at our huge bubble party!
  • July 17 - Science Matters: "Space Adventures." Learn about the properties of space, see how rockets make it to space, and find out how to make a comet out of dry ice!  
  • July 24 - Playground Theatre Company: "Fairy Tale Theatre." All ages will enjoy puppets, hilarious comedy, live music and a bounty of audience participation!
  • July 31 - Comedy Magic Show: Join us for a highly entertaining magic show featuring magic, comedy and a musical sing along.
  • August 7 - Young Rembrandts: "Cartooning Adventures in Space." Come and learn cartooning skills in a class led by real artists.

Thursday Interactive Activities

Join us for fun programs associated with the summer reading theme “A Universe of Stories”. Every week will bring something new!

  • May 30 - Rocket Science: Blast off on a mission to learn about rockets by making your own rockets out of balloons and straws.
  • June 6 - Yoga: Explore the world of yoga as we focus on combining breath and movement to calm the mind and strengthen the body. 
  • June 13 - Summer Crafts: Come make fun summer crafts including glow in the dark fireflies, decorated canvas bags,  marble mazes and sand art.
  • June 20 - Astronaut Training Camp: Join us for our Astronaut Training Camp with lots of fun space related activities including:  moon sand, shuttle repairs, moon walk, crafts and more.
  • June 27 - Firetruck: Come meet some of our Denver firefighter friends and take a tour through their firetruck!
  • July 4 - Holiday, library closed
  • July 11 - Sun Science: Join us as we use the Sun to conduct exciting experiments including solar ovens, sundials and sunlight boxes.
  • July 18 - Alien Craft: Come make fun summer crafts including alien slime, alien finger puppets, TP roll aliens, and alien spaceships!
  • July 25 - Outer Space Science: Explore the Universe through fun hands on experiments including forming craters, navigating space rovers, exploring ice orbs and making star clocks and more!   
  • August 1 - Whodunnit: Calling all Super Sleuths and Dynamite Detectives!  We need your help solving a crime at the Englewood Library!
  • August 8 - Aliens on Earth: Come learn about animals that live on the earth but have out of this world attributes including anglerfish, bats, Hagfish and more!

Friday Legos

Join us every Friday throughout the summer for Legos. Fun for the whole family!

Teen Summer Programs

We have a lot going on for teens this summer, from Tuesday Night Events, to Movie Nights, to our always favorite After Hours Events! See below and come to everything!

Tuesday Night Events

*All Tuesday night events start at 4pm

  • May 28 -Movie Party: Kick off Summer Reading with this "Superhero" themed party where we will watch Avengers: Infinity War. Enjoy snacks, games, prizes and more!
  • June 4 - Cake Decorating: Join us for a cupcake decorating contest and enjoy a yummy take home treat!
  • June 18 - Teen Book Club: Come and discuss the book Murder on the Orient Express!
  • July 2 - Craft Night: You'll just have to show up to find out what the craft will be!
  • July 9 - Teen Book Club: Come and discuss the book Death Cloud, a Young Sherlock Holmes novel.
  • July 23 - Rube Goldberg Machines: Get creative and build your very own Rube Goldberg Machine!
  • July 30 - Teen Book Club: Our third book club book will be chosen by book club members. Want to have a say, then show up!
  • Every Tuesday Night - Teen Tech Lab Takeover: We will continue with our popular Teen Tech Lab Takeover on Tuesday nights from 4-7pm, where you get our tech lab all to yourselves! Yay!

*All Friday night events start at 6pm... after the library closes! Please enter through the garage door entrance.

  • June 14 - Life-Size Clue: Come play a life-size version of the popular board game Clue!
  • June 28 - Murder Mystery Dinner: Join us for a dinner filled with mystery!
  • July 19 - Mystery Puzzles: Help us solve a mystery by piecing together clues from around the library!
  • August 9 - Escape Room: Use your detective and team work skills to break out of the escape room!
