Division Chief, Chad Read
Division Chief Read oversees the Special Operations and Codes Division, which includes the Investigations Bureau, Fire Marshal's Office, Police Impact Team, and Crime Analyst. He joined the Englewood Police Department in 2006 after moving from Illinois, where he served for six years with two sheriff’s offices. Throughout his career, Division Chief Read has held various positions, including Patrol, Impact Team, Professional Standards, Special Operations, and Arrest Control & Defensive Tactics Instructor, in addition to numerous other responsibilities.
Division Chief Read holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (Session #284) and the Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command (Session #443). He is committed to providing top-tier law enforcement services by focusing on problem-solving and fostering strong community partnerships, along with officer wellness.

Three Fire Inspectors and one Fire Marshal maintain life safety of all commercial buildings and public education for schools and hospitals.
Impact Team
Four Impact Officers and one Sergeant focus on issues that directly impact the quality-of-life in the city.
Investigations Bureau
Ten Detectives and two Detective Sergeants provide investigative follow-up on criminal cases.
Property & Evidence
Responsible for processing and storing all property and evidence that is booked into the police department.
Crime Analyst
Responsible for locating crime series, patterns, trends and hot spots in the city.
