On February 21, 2017, city council adopted the Englewood Forward Comprehensive Plan. The plan establishes a vision for Englewood's future, focusing on land use, housing, parks and open space, business and employment, transportation and sustainability. It also includes a set of strategies to implement the plan over time. The plan serves as a policy document that sets the stage for land use and transportation planning throughout the community.

In 2025, the city is updating the Englewood Forward Comprehensive Plan to reflect recent progress and emerging factors affecting Englewood’s growth. The plan was adopted in 2017, and it is best practice to update the plan every 5-7 years.
