To attract new jobs within the highly competitive Front Range of Colorado, the City of Englewood has authorized a Primary Employer Incentive program that is available to new or expanding employers who pledge to make a new or renewed investment in Englewood.  Through the Primary Employer Incentive, the City provides rebates to primary employers seeking to create or retain primary jobs in the community.  The incentive can rebate use taxes or permit fees to support new job growth, which enables the continual improvement of the community’s prosperity and quality of life.

How are these Rebates Approved by the City?

The Primary Employer Incentive provides rebates of up to $25,000, subject to staff or administrative approval.  Incentive rebates exceeding $25,000 require City Council authorization and may include the following rebates:  Construction Related Sales / Use Taxes or Permit Fees.  The Council authorized incentive is geared toward larger primary employers, which drive significant economic impacts.

What is a Primary Job?

A primary job is a full-time equivalent position (FTE) in a company or firm which derives the majority of its sales/income from outside the local region.

How is a Company Eligible for the Primary Employer Incentive Program?

The program is intended to provide existing employers that are expanding or employers new to Englewood with a tangible benefit associated with choosing Englewood over other locations that are under consideration. The program is generally discussed with the employer prior to the signing of a lease and/or purchase of property.

How do Primary Employers Initiate a Request for an Incentive?

Englewood’s Community Development Department oversees the economic development programs and initiatives for the City.   The City’s economic development staff works directly with employers considering Englewood and will meet with companies to discuss their eligibility for the program.  Call 303.762.2599 or email ecodev@englewoodco.gov to schedule a meeting.
