The Bates Logan Park native area is still growing with bright blooms like Aster, Black Eyed Susans, Sunflowers and native grasses. Unfortunately, in new native areas, some weeds are expected in these early seasons. This year, the city's Parks Team has already tackled many types of weeds with multiple rounds of control, such as hand pulling and spot treating, and the effort will continue throughout the rest of the growing season! More native seeding is coming this fall and spring to increase the colorful canopy of native plants.
Native restoration takes patience, and we are committed to the long-term success of this project. With consistent care, we’re building a stronger, more resilient native plant community that can naturally outcompete invasive weeds.
