On October 6, 2025, at about 12:35 am, Englewood Police Officers were dispatched to Denny’s at 275 W. Hampden Avenue, on a report of a subject who had pulled a knife on an employee and tried to stab the employee. The suspect was last reported to be alone in the bathroom of the diner.
When Officers arrived, they entered Denny’s and began talking with an employee near the front door. Shortly after officers contacted the suspect, he pulled out a knife and charged at the officers on scene, ultimately stabbing one officer in the shoulder area. Another Officer shot the suspect and officers were able to disarm the suspect. Officers immediately rendered aid to the suspect and called for medical assistance. The Officer was later treated and released from an area hospital.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. Once released from the hospital, the suspect will be transported to the Arapahoe County Jail where he will be held on charges related to this incident. There is no additional threat to the public.
The 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team was called out to conduct an independent investigation of the incident. Per department policy, the Involved Officers were placed on Paid Administrative Leave.
