The Englewood Police Department's Community Relations Specialist coordinates a variety of services, which include community relations, crime prevention, safety education, and volunteer opportunities. Below are some of the programs that we provide to the community:
Neighborhood Watch - Englewood's Neighborhood Watch program is one of the most active and effective programs of its kind in Colorado. Neighborhood Watch is a grassroots effort where citizens and law enforcement officials work together to build safe, crime-free neighborhoods.
• Nextdoor Program - this is a free private social network that you can use to connect with your neighbors. (Please note that the Police Department does not regulate the use of Nextdoor.)
National Night Out - This a nationwide event where neighbors gather together the first Tuesday in August to send a message to criminals that they are united in cracking down on crime in their neighborhoods.
Citizens' Academy - A nine week program of classroom instruction and hands-on experience that is designed to provide citizens with a better understanding of the Englewood Police Department. Topics include patrol procedures, investigations, officer safety, use-of-force, etc.
Citizens' Self-Defense Classes - Classes are held periodically throughout the year and consist of verbal instruction and hands-on training. Participants must be at least 18 years old. Space is limited - attendees must Register (PDF file) in advance.
Graffiti Paint Out - A joint effort between the Police Department and the community to eliminate graffiti and to prevent it from occurring in our city. Please visit our Graffiti web page for more information.
We also have a graffiti alert system which is designed to keep concerned citizens informed of recent graffiti incidents. For more information, please contact Code Enforcement at 303-762-2335 or by email.
If you would like to get more information about these programs, receive email alerts, or if you would like to be a volunteer, please contact Toni Arnoldy at 303-762-2490 or by email.
