Pirates Cove Expansion Feasibility Study

In March 2017, Englewood City Council adopted the parks and recreation master plan and a companion feasibility study that explores an expansion of Pirates Cove Family Aquatic Park. These serve as a road map for future park development/redevelopment and provide a balance of facilities, amenities and recreation programs for the next 10 years.

The Master Plan, last updated in 2006, recommends updates to nearly all park and recreation facilities and services. The recommendations will assist in improving health, strengthening the community's social fabric and economy, and preserving and enhancing the environment

Public input process:

Listening carefully to the community was central to this Master Plan, and we are grateful for the nearly 600 citizens who offered suggestions. In Spring 2016, the first phase of the project included a statistically valid community survey (250 respondents), stakeholder interviews and a public open house attended by more than 50 citizens:

  • June 22 Ice Cream Social at Belleview Park
  • July 7 Sounds of Summer Concert at CityCenter Englewood Amphitheater
  • July 12 Ice Cream Social at Cushing Park
  • December 8 Draft Review Public Meeting at Civic Center, Hampden Hall
