Accessory Dwelling Units, known as ADU's, are small secondary residential structures located behind the primary house or above a detached garage.
First Reading on the Ordinance for accessory dwelling units was held on November 19, 2018. At that time, City Council voted to amend Planning and Zoning Commission's recommendations by restricting accessory dwelling units to the MU-R-3-A and MU-R-3-B zone districts.
Second reading and a vote on the amended Ordinance will be held at the December 3, 2018 City Council meeting.
The Planning and Zoning Commission has made recommendations for areas of Englewood that could support Accessory Dwelling Units, or ADU’s; and two community workshops and a Town Hall have been held so residents could learn more about ADU’s and express preferences on whether or not they should be permitted in the City.
