Swedish Medical Center Temporary Helipad
On Thursday, October 25, Swedish Medical Center (SMC) began using a temporary helicopter pad located in the 125 East Hampden Avenue parking lot, which is owned by SMC. Swedish Medical Center obtained comprehensive permitting and licensing for the temporary helipad with the City of Englewood prior to the start of construction and utilization.
The purpose of the temporary helipad is to provide a safe place for helicopters carrying patients to land and take off while SMC performs construction to repair its regular helipad. Swedish estimates that use of the temporary helipad will cease in mid-January 2019 when the permanent helipad construction is complete. At that time, the 125 East Hampden Avenue parking space will no longer be used to accommodate inbound and outbound helicopters.
It is expected that an average of one helicopter per day will be utilizing the temporary helipad during this time, however utilization may vary.
The Swedish team greatly appreciates the partnership and support from local business owners, residents, and the City of Englewood while they continue to provide care for the patients they serve.
